The RACQ CQ RESCUE helicopter from Mackay and the RACQ - Capricorn Rescue helicopter from Rockhampton have been called to transport patients for medical care after a motor vehicle accident on the Capricorn Highway, 80 kilometres west of Emerald.
Four men were in the vehicle when it rolled approximately 80k west of Emerald on the Capricorn Highway. The two men in the back seat were encapsulated; they are also the two with the most serious injuries. A Queensland Ambulance Crew freed the men from the wreckage and transferred them by road to Emerald Hospital.
The two injured occupants involved in the single vehicle rollover are being transferred to Rockhampton Hospital, one in the RACQ CQ RESCUE helicopter and the other in the RACQ - Capricorn Rescue helicopter
The patient on board the CQ RESCUE helicopter is a 61 year old male with serious chest injuries - his condition is reported as stable. The patient in the Capricorn Rescue Helicopter has sustained a fractured arm and facial lacerations. The two other occupants have minor injuries including lacerations
Both rescue helicopters have been directed to the Emerald Airfield where the patients will be transported by road ambulance to meet the helicopters.
The vehicle was towing a trailer and the men were on a fossicking trip
Their estimated arrival at Rockhampton Hospital is 1445 (although this time could be earlier due to a strong tail wind
