The yacht, ‘Stargazer’, was located by the crew of RACQ – CQ RESCUE south of Scawfell Island 30 nautical miles north east of Mackay at 9.25am this morning.
The yacht was reported overdue by the skipper’s wife who was expecting them to return to Mackay Marina at 6pm last night. The skipper’s wife was unaware of the direction the yacht was travelling and at 8am this morning the Mackay Police tasked the CQ RESCUE helicopter to look for the vessel.
The three people on board are safe and it appears the skipper was unaware they were overdue. The “Stargazer” was heading to Keswick Island before coming back to the Mackay Marina.
