Not long after retrieving a shark attack victim from the Whitsundays, the RACQ – CQ RESCUE crew was tasked to a motor vehicle accident near Glenden, west of Nebo. A 39 year old Finch Hatton man was fatally injured in the accident and a 44 year old Kuttabul man was transported by the RACQ – CQ RESCUE helicopter to Mackay Base Hospital at 6.47pm
The Pioneer Valley man was travelling in the station wagon which clipped a Holden utility before hitting a truck head-on.
Kuttabul resident and driver of the truck was pulled from the wreckage before his vehicle was engulfed in flames. He sustained a fractured pelvis and smoke inhalation in the accident and was transported on board the RACQ – CQ RESCUE helicopter to Mackay Base Hospitalwhere he was met by emergency medical staff.
