RACQ CQ Rescue land in Proserpine

January 18 2010

By lunchtime today, the RACQ – CQ RESCUE helicopter had already completed two missions. At 10.20 this morning the crew left Mackay Airport bound for Lindeman Island where a 47 year old staff member on the island was reported to have suffered seizures.

The RACQ – CQ RESCUE crew was instructed to transfer the man to Proserpine Hospital for admission. Around the same time a one month old baby had presented at Proserpine Hospital and required rapid transfer to Mackay Base Hospital for treatment.

The RACQ – CQ RESCUE helicopter landed at Proserpine Hospital at 11.38am where the Lindeman Island man was admitted for examination and tests while the baby boy was transferred to the waiting helicopter for admission to Mackay Base Hospital. The baby’s mother travelled to Mackay by road.

The baby who was born in December was experiencing breathing difficulties. Doctors at Mackay Base Hospital will monitor and assess his condition.
