The RACQ CQ RESCUE helicopter lifted off from Mackay airport at 1.50pm this afternoon on its way to a single vehicle accident at Mt Dalrymple, 60 kilometres west north west of Mackay (near Eungella).
Initial reports are 3 to 4 people in the all-terrain vehicle have injuries. One person may have suffered head injuries and could possibly be airlifted by the RACQ CQ RESCUE helicopter to Townsville depending on the seriousness of the injuries. The RACQCQ RESCUE doctor and intensive care paramedic on board the helicopter will assess the situation on arrival.
The helicopter crew was returning from Lindeman Island where a baby required hospitalization for fevers and dehydration. She was transported from the island to Mackay Base Hospital.
As the RACQ CQ RESCUE helicopter was approaching the airport, the emergency call in relation to the vehicle accident at Mt Dalrymple was received at the base. The crew quickly refueled and left immediately for the accident site.
More details will be sent as they become available.
